A prayer for those tending something new

When the new leaf doesn’t unfurl quickly enough,
When the new friendship doesn’t deepen immediately,
When the new business doesn’t take off right away,

May you rest in hope that this new thing will grow in his time.

When you want to hover,
to count and re-count,
to over think and over explain,

May you release your need for control to the one whose plans are firmly in place.

And when your desire for the next stage knocks louder and louder at the door of your heart, may you learn to sit quietly with what is.
