When productivity sings its siren song, you tell us to come to you.
When we are tired because the burdens we carry have become heavier than we can bear, you offer us rest.
When the yokes we have chosen for ourselves don’t fit, you teach us a better way.
When our souls are exhausted by the weight of our own reputations, you give us permission to be small.
In you we discover that the work you give us to do is also the work for which we were created, and the load you give us is the very load for which we have been made to carry.
Jesus, help us to put down all those things we thought were our responsibility, taking back with us only that which you return to our hand.
